The inventor of the now ubiquitous text message, Matti Makkonen, is poised to bring an enhanced version known as iSMS® to the U.S. market. iSMS® works on any phone with traditional texting capability, but has significant advantages for enterprise applications such as airline check-in, mobile banking, payment confirmations, appointment scheduling, and field-force management. iSMS® has been in use for years by Finnish companies such as Finnair and Nokia Siemens Networks. Now, with over 80% of the U.S population owning a cell phone, U.S. enterprises have become eager to pilot iSMS® applications.
