SMT Introduces Bookit's Intelligent Mobile Payment Method to Travelers

SMT is the first travel agency in Finland to introduce a new mobile payment solution called iSMS-pay (intelligent payment).  Passengers can now book services through SMT’s call center agents and then authorize payments remotely with one-click from their mobile phone.  As a result, customers avoid the hassle and risk of reading their credit card numbers aloud over the phone.

SMT iSMS-pay is an example of SMT's active investments to make the life of the passenger easier. The service is currently available to individuals, purchasing air tickets, hotel and car reservation and service fees. Service is also open for some corporate customers, paying their personal additional services, such as upgrades and theatre tickets.

However, passengers are increasingly complementing the corporate paid services with their own personal purchases describes the SMT's development and IT Director, Susanne Lindroos.

SMT strives to make payment as easy as possible for passengers, so the mobile phone which is always with you is an obvious choice.  When a passenger wants to pay for their journey by credit card, he gets a text message on his cell phone including the order and payment details as well as a link to a credit card payment form. Passengers fill in the credit card details only once through a PCI-compliant registration process.  When the same customer is making a purchase the next time, SMT iSMS-pay recognizes that the passenger’s phone number is already registered and sends a text message with the purchase and payment details presented such that the customer can accept and authorize the payment by replying with just one letter.

SMT isms-pay is developed jointly by SMT and Bookit and utilizes Bookit’s modern payment technologies.  The service works on all smart phones and requires only a browser connection. The most well-known credit and debit cards are accepted, such as Mastercard, Visa and American Express. Service languages are Finnish, Swedish and English.
